#SUSALT17 Reaching for Teaching Excellence

The 9th Annual SALT Learning and Teaching Conference took place on the 5th July 2017 at the Taliesin Arts Centre, Singleton Campus, Swansea. The Conference was open to all colleagues at Swansea University.

#SUSALT17 represented an opportunity for colleagues to come together as a community to reflect on the conference theme of ‘ Reaching for Teaching Excellence’.  Recordings of the Keynote presentations can be viewed below.

Jane Hart Centre for Learning & Performance Technologies (C4PLT)

We are delighted to welcome Jane Hart , founder of the Centre for Learning & Performance Technologies (C4LPT), as our Key Note Speaker who will be presenting on the topic of ‘Learning in the Modern Workplace’ 

Jane Hart’s 10 year longitudinal study of learning tools shows that modern professionals are learning in new ways at, through and for work. In her keynote she will reveal the characteristics of the modern professional learner – as well as the tools they use and the new skills they have acquired.  She will also consider what these new learning behaviours mean for Higher Education both in terms of preparing today’s students for the modern workplace, as well as for academics’ own professional development.

Keynote Professor Martin Stringer

martin stringerPro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Martin Stringer will again provide our final keynote speech. Professor Stringer will outline details of his vision for the development of the digital agenda at Swansea University . In 2015, Professor Stringer joined Swansea University with responsibility for Arts, Humanities and Social Science as well as Teaching and Learning across the University. Responsibilities within Strategic Development include leading on the University’s STEP4Excellence programme around student engagement, and the Go Beyond programme that is focused on curriculum development. External Relations roles include interactions with HEFCW, Welsh Government, the HEA, WISERD, South West Wales Reaching Wider Partnership as well as other key external stakeholders.

 We have an excellent range of over 50 individual parallel sessions covering lightning talks, workshops, presentations and poster sessions.  A visual image of the key words generated from each of the sessions gives a flavour of the topics involved.
